About the Client

Our client is a US-based utility analytics company providing real-time insights into energy and water consumption for residential and commercial users in multiple regions. Their main mission is to promote sustainable resource usage by providing easy-to-access data to users through state-of-the-art technology.

Objectives

The client’s primary goal was to enhance how users comprehend their utility data. They sought to offer a more interactive and easy-to-use tool to users with features like real-time monitoring, tailored insights, and prompt notifications. The client wanted to enable consumers to make smarter decisions about their energy consumption, reducing waste, and quickly detect any unusual patterns.

Problem Statement

The client faced problems because of their existing legacy system that mostly relied on offline reports, so users did not get quick updates or spot unusual usage. Because of this, user participation was low, and the client could not manage resources effectively. Another problem for the client was to find the instances of misuse or fraud in energy and water utilization.

Challenges for the Client

The client was facing challenges due to lack of a centralized system which gave rise to many issues such as limited visibility into real-time energy and water consumption data across distributed user locations. Users could not keep track of their usage patterns, leading to inefficiencies and over consumption and got delayed responses to anomalies. The service teams, too, found it hard to convey insights or usage alerts to users instantly.

Another challenge was related to the user’s dependence on separate systems. It caused delay in generating reports related to the user’s consumption behavior. This hindered proactive resource management such as preventive maintenance notifications, billing insights, or conservation tips, leading to delayed decision-making.
